Das thailändische Außenministerium berief gestern die ausländischen Gesandten nacheinander ein, um ihre Botschaften zu beschuldigen, in der thailändischen Politik Partei zu ergreifen. Die diplomatischen Mitarbeiter des Ministeriums widersprachen der Anwesenheit von Gesandten in der Polizeiwache Pathum Wan am vergangenen Samstag ( 6. April ), als gegen den Führer der Future Forward Partei, Herr Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Anklage erhoben wurde.
Die US-Botschaft erklärte dazu bereits jedoch gegenüber „ The Nation „, dass die Teilnahme an Prozessen der Strafverfolgung durchaus üblich ist.
„ Unabhängig von der Absicht war die Anwesenheit von Vertretern der Botschaften in der Polizeistation mit einer solchen Sichtbarkeit und der damit einhergehenden Öffentlichkeit eindeutig ein Akt von politischer Bedeutung. Dieser Akt, wird von der thailändischen Öffentlichkeit größtenteils als eine Demonstration und als eine moralische Unterstützung für Herrn Thanathorn und für das Land angesehen „ lautete die Erklärung des US- Adjutanten, von der auch eine Kopie der an „ The Nation „ geschockt wurde.
Vertreter des Menschenrechtskommissars der Vereinten Nationen, der Europäischen Union, der Vereinigten Staaten, des Vereinigten Königreichs, Kanadas, Frankreichs, Belgiens, Australiens, Neuseelands, Dänemarks, Finnlands, Deutschlands und der Niederlande waren am Samstag bei der Vernehmung von Herrn Thanathorn vor der Polizeiwache in Pathum Wan anwesend, um die Anklage und die anderen Strafanzeigen gegen den Führer der Future Forward Partei zu hören.
Die Anklagen bezogen sich auf seine Anwesenheit bei einer Anti-Junta Protestaktion im Jahr 2015. In der Anklage wurde behauptet, er habe einem Demonstranten ein Fahrzeug zur Verfügung gestellt, um vor der Strafverfolgung und der Haft zu fliehen.
Der Milliardär, der später zu einem Politiker wurde, beschuldigte die Junta, ein politisches Motiv für die Verfolgung zu haben, nachdem seine Partei bei den Wahlen vom 24. März weit besser als erwartet abgeschnitten hatte und mehr als 80 Sitze im Repräsentantenhaus eingenommen hatte.
Die Future Forward Partei schloss sich dem pro-demokratischen und den anderen Anti-Junta Parteien an, zu denen auch die Pheu Thai Partei gehört. Gleichzeitig bot die Partei dabei an, gegen die Pro-Junta Phalang Pracharath Partei, die General Prayuth offiziell unterstützt, anzutreten. So wollte die Future Forward Partei nach den Wahlen gemeinsam mit den anderen Parteien eine Regierung bilden.
Die internationale Gemeinschaft und die lokalen Rechtegruppen haben die Junta und den nationalen Rat für Frieden und Ordnung ( NCPO ) für ihren Plan kritisiert, Thanathorn vor einem Militärgericht zu stellen.
Außenminister Don Pramudwinai beschuldigte am Dienstag ( 9. April ) die Abgesandten, die am Samstag vor der Polizeistation in Pathum Wan erschienen waren mit der Begründung, ihre Anwesenheit sei diplomatisch unangemessen. Ausländische Vertreter könnten sich nur dann an dem thailändischen Gerichtsverfahren beteiligen, wenn ihre eigenen Bürger strafrechtlich verfolgt würden.
In den Memoiren des Ministeriums heißt es, dass die thailändische Regierung die Rechte ausländischer Botschaften respektiert, um die politischen Entwicklungen zu überwachen und Ereignisse zu beobachten, die nicht nur für ihre Analyse und Bewertung, sondern auch zur Förderung der freundschaftlichen Beziehungen von Bedeutung sind.
Der Vorfall auf der Polizeistation Pathum Wan, während die Polizei ihren Dienst verrichtete, „ stimmte jedoch eindeutig nicht mit den internationalen Gepflogenheiten und Verpflichtungen überein “, sagt das Ministerium.
Der stellvertretende Chef der Nationalen Polizei, Oberst Srivara Rangsibhramanakul sagte jedoch, die Diplomaten seien zu einem Briefing eingeladen worden, nachdem Thanathorns Verhör in der Polizeiwache Pathum Wan beendet sei. Sie nahmen allerdings nicht wie erwartet an der Sitzung teil, fügte er weiterhinzu.
Die US-Botschaft, deren politischer Berater sich am Samstag in der Polizeistation aufhielt, sagte, dass Vertreter der ausländischen Botschaften immer an solchen Strafverfolgungsverfahren teilnehmen sollten.
“ Das Interesse der USA in diesem Fall besteht, wie in vielen anderen Fällen auch darin, den Gerichtsprozess zu beobachten und Informationen aus erster Hand über die Behandlung des Falls zu erhalten „, sagte Frau Jillian Bonnardeaux, die Sprecherin der US – Botschaft. / TN

“Election” confusion and hopeless hypocrisy

The “result” of the “election” is pretty much known, with no government that is not a junta government permitted. All we are waiting for now is for the junta’s fiddling to be finished so as to deliver its preferred result. That fiddling is both transparent and opaque and the junta is using its old propaganda channels to declare the rigged election free and fair. No mentally competent person will believe them.
Buffalo manure piled high
On the propaganda side, it is the same old face delivering the buffalo manure. The Dictator and (maybe) Prime Minister-to-be but currently self-appointed premier Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha “has called for national unity … saying that it is important to work together to maintain peace and steer the country toward democracy.”
This is the same Gen Prayuth who has ordered charges against the leaders of the party that ran third in the “election.” This is the same general who has stirred up the old yellow hatred and had it directed at those same persons, who ran a peaceful electoral campaign. The best one could say for The Dictator is that he is a hopeless hypocrite.
Saying that “Everyone must work together to reduce conflict and learn to forgive and put problems behind us…” is worse than hypocritical as it is The Dictator who leads the pack in sowing discord. And, he shows no signs of going anywhere, continuing to speak of the junta government in the future tense.
On the continuing confusion, the Bangkok Post reported that the Election Commission’s “May 9 schedule to announce official poll results has been thrown into doubt after the agency on Thursday decided to ask the Constitutional Court to rule on the legality of its method of calculating and allocating party-list seats to clear growing confusion about the issue.”
The EC’s response was swift, with the hopeless EC chairman Ittiporn Boonpracong saying that there’s no problem – we guess he knows what the Court will do. He “explained” that this move “will not affect the EC’s plan to endorse at least 95% of the poll results by May 9.” That means that after 46 days after votes were cast and the EC will still not have an official result for every seat.
We imagine that many readers thought that the EC was going to announce the full result on 9 May. No such luck, because the fiddling will still be going on, with election re-runs and more judicial bilking of the results to come.
We at PPT tend to think that a lot of this is “confusion” is now being deliberately created to erase fingerprints on the stolen election.

umso unglaubwürdiger wurde er.
Die Pheua Thai hat diese Wahlen bestimmt nicht durch eigene Aktivitäten
oder Thaksins Geistesblitze gewonnen!
Thaksins genialste Tat war die TRC, die aber total daneben ging !
Grund für den Sieg der Pheua Thai war das totale Versagen
des Regimes beim Aufbau der eigenen Militärpartei!
Trotz staatlicher Unterstützung und dem Aufkauf von DePen
und Thaksin Abfällen war/ist an dieser Thainesspartei
überhaupt nix echt.

Western diplomatic missions responded Wednesday to charges from Thailand’s foreign ministry that they violated protocol by observing a politician being charged by police with sedition, calling their action standard diplomatic practice.
They were responding to Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, who said Tuesday that foreign countries are barred from closely observing such internal procedures “not only by etiquette, but also by rules and regulations that the whole world abides by.” His ministry on Wednesday accused the diplomats of intervening in Thai politics.
Thirteen foreign diplomats were present Saturday at a Bangkok police station where Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, leader of a popular new political party, acknowledged charges of sedition and other crimes. Thanathorn says the charges are politically motivated.
Thanathorn’s Future Forward Party ran a strong third in last month’s general election and positions itself as being opposed to political interference by Thailand’s powerful military. Several criminal complaints and protests to election authorities have already been lodged against Thanathorn and his party.
The election results are to be certified by May 9, and the contending parties are maneuvering to establishing alliances or have opponents disqualified.
The foreign minister on Tuesday had complained informally, but his ministry on Wednesday issued a diplomatic note “to register our displeasure and concern.”
It charged that the diplomats’ action violated an article in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations that says diplomats “have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs” of the nation in which they are stationed.
It said their presence at the police station “with such a visibility and the publicity it generated were clearly an act of political significance, seen by the Thai public largely as a show of moral support to Mr. Thanathorn.”
“In other words, it was a political act or a political statement on the part of the Embassies,” it said. “It clearly amounted to the Embassies choosing to be a player in Thai domestic politics, at least by having taken side in the country’s political landscape.”
U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Jillian Bonnardeaux said U.S. Charge d’Affaires Peter Haymond met Wednesday with a senior foreign ministry official at the ministry’s request.
“The U.S. Embassy regularly attends court proceedings in high profile cases around the world in order to observe fair trial guarantees and respect for rule of law,” she said in an emailed statement. “This is a standard diplomatic practice. The U.S. interest in this case, as in many other cases, is to observe the judicial process and obtain first-hand information about the handling of the case.”
A statement from the European Union delegation to Thailand made a similar point, saying, “Observation of hearings and trials is standard diplomatic practice worldwide. Its purpose is to enhance understanding of adherence to international standards such as human rights and due process.”
“Such observations are in no way indications of political preference or support for specific actors,” it said.
The EU statement thanked the Thai police for their cooperation “in facilitating the observation and for offering to brief the diplomats present.”
An ambassador from a western embassy told Khaosod English on a condition of anonymity that the embassy would like to keep the details of the meeting at the Foreign Affairs Ministry private.
Another source from the UN’s human rights agency, which also sent representatives to observe Thanathorn when he went to hear the charges, said it hadn’t been summoned by Thai authorities, adding that it had informed the ministry in advance about their intention to monitor the event.

gewählt worden. In einigen Wahlkreisen wo die Pheua Thai
garnicht antrat weil dort die TRC antreten sollte

Wieviele der 6,2 Mio Wählerstimmen Leihstimmen von TRC sind
weiss man nicht.

ja, es gibt einen UN-Beschluss, weil ohne einen internen Beschluss – kann ein UN-Sprecher das nicht
öffentlich erklären.
Gleiches mit der EU – tritt die EU in die Öffentlichkeit, ist das zuvor im EU-Parlament/Kommission so beschlossen
worden. Da sowohl die EU, als auch die UN – hier öffentliche Erklärungen abgegeben haben, kann man
schon von intern. Gemeinschaft sprechen.
UN und EU sind nicht privat – auch Regierungserklärungen der anderen Staaten sind nicht privat erfolgt.
